Soakaways

The overall principle of a soakaway is that is used to disperse the liquid
effluent from a septic tank into the sub-soil on the site.

The size and nature of the soakaway system will depend on the porosity
of the ground, the size and number of property’s being served and the
natural water table levels.

Soakaways are typically formed using trench lines filled with clean stone
and have distribution pipes with slots or holes. These can be a series of
connected trenches, one long trench or a large pit.
